Sleepy!

I should be working right now, but I just woke up.

This happens EVERY single time Rob is out of town. After putting Grace to bed, I then proceed to read to Luke 14 zillion chapters of the latest saga in the lives of the Alden children, AKA the Boxcar Children.

And then . . . when I should be hastening quietly from the room, I instead fall into a deep sleep. I wake up--usually--several hours later, disgruntled, confused, and dazed. Then it dawns on me that the evening is over, the night has come, and all my nightly "chores" and schoolwork are still undone.

Groan.

I did have a rather fabulous nap. Too bad it began at 9:00 p.m.

Does anyone else ever do this?

No, unfortunately I don't get a nap and I still stay up way too late and never get enough done. (I do enjoy the few minutes after the big kids leave for school with dad and Elijah and I watch "kahtoons" before baby wakes up.)
Bummer that you have to stay up and work, though.

I don't nap, either -- but when Troy is out of town I stay up WAY too late because I HATE going to bed by myself! So, I spend the rest of the week dragging around. It's the pits.

Oh Jana,
I spent what seemed like a lifetime reading to a roomful of boys, and almost always falling asleep. Especially when i was pregnant with # five, seth. I loved the feeling of being so tired and sleep coming so easily. Dishes were not done and floors not swept but i don't think i regret those times. Oh how i wish i could put them to bed now knowing they are safe and sound. Now i get to stay awake, somenights all night waiting to hear from them. oh boy.

Yes, that is just like me - I have to make a very serious effort to not lie down with the boys when I'm tucking them in beyond the goodnight song and prayer. Even "just a few minutes" with my head on the pillow means at least 45 minutes of sleeping. The result is me being too tired and sleepy to get anything done, which means ungraded papers, and undone plans...sigh. At least I'm not alone.
